Who doesn't love a good sketch? It helps to take the guesswork out of the page and/or card design, but still allows you to put your own spin on things just be turning the sketch or altering it here and there. Today, we have an exclusive sketch designed for us by our very own Kristine Davidson. We asked two of our talented layout designers to put their own spin on the sketch.

When I scrapbook I love to use sketches as a starting point to get the inspiration flowing. Usually I tend to divert a lot from the origin of the sketch, but this time I decided to try to stay as close to the sketch as possible. When working with both Project Life style, or very linear scrapbooking style, it’s very easy to forget that you can add tiny bits of color to give the page a little more life. I have also used 3d foams from Scrapbook Adhesive for the pictures and smaller pieces added to the squares watercolor papers that I cut into 3.8x3.8 inch pieces and painted with Peerless paper before adding the papers from the Fresh Market collection.
Fresh Market: Tutti Frutti, Whole Lotta Seeds, Fruitful, Freshly Picked, Sweet To Eat, Daily Details, Treasures & Text; Rover: Treasures & Text; Clear Cuts: White Woodgrain, Ice Confetti; Ciao Chip Elements: Borders, Symbols, WhatNots; Crochet Hearts: Punch, Bell Pepper; Enamel DooDads: Bell Pepper, Ice, Cotton Candy

I’m such a fan of grid designs, so this sketch was ideal for me! I loved the 6-block grid with the open space above for a big, bold title. I filled 5 of the 6 squares with photos and fun patterned papers from Family Frenzy. Since one of my photos was vertical and couldn’t be cropped into a square without cutting out important elements, I let it spill into the lower square and made that piece just a tad smaller. The borders and Little Bits stickers helped tell my story with minimal journaling and the mix of chipboard elements were the perfect way to embellish this sketch!
Family Frenzy: Daily Details, Donut Day, Here We Grow, A Lot Going On, Borders, Treasures & Text, Little Bits; Color Chaos: Bell Pepper Strandz, McIntosh Strandz, Blueberry Strandz; Ciao Chip Elements: Flowers & Clouds, Hearts & Stars, WhatNots, Symbols; Enamel Dots: McIntosh
