Who doesn't love a good sketch? It helps to take the guesswork out of the page and/or card design, but still allows you to put your own spin on things just be turning the sketch or altering it here and there. A few times a month, we'll be bringing you a new sketch, and showing you a few takes on the sketch by our designers. Today, we have our first sketch for October, courtesy of Becky Fleck.
“For The Love”, by Kay Rogers.
I stayed pretty true to the sketch, probably because I love its graphic feeling. I prefer to make simple, linear layouts and this fit the bill!

“I’m Thankful for You”, by Jodi Wilton.
I absolutely love working with sketches, and for this sketch I didn’t alter too much with it. I drew colors from the photo, and instead of three photos, I replaced two of them with the larger heart from the Daily Details patterned paper. For the journaling spot on the bottom of the left hand corner, I used one of the Paper Pieces Die Cuts and traced it onto the packaging to bring out more pink in the layout. I then layered with lot of stickers and chipboard to finish off the layout.

“Pretty as a Picture”, by Allyson Meinholz.
When I saw this sketch for this month the first thing that popped in my mind was to use the girl’s school pictures from this year. The colors went perfectly with the Sunday Brunch floral pattern from the Family forever collection. And I even busted out an old bloom! I was very pleased how this layout came together. Hard to believe I have one in kindergarten, one in 3rd grade and one in 5th grade.
