Hiya friends! Shanna here! Thank you for having me today :)
I wanted to share my experience at the recent She Loves Color event - from a Bible Journaler's perspective! First of all, can I just say how much fun SLC is?! I mean seriously, if you ever get a chance to go, grab some girlfriends, your favorite leggings, some washi tape and GO!!! You will love it!
She Loves Color is a scrapbooking event, but they do have a day before the event called Designer Day. During Designer Day I typically teach all day on all things Bible Journaling and I just LOVE it! But since I am already there, I don't want to leave, I want to stay for MORE FUN!! So I attend She Loves Color as a student! And let me tell you - THAT is fun!
Even though She Loves Color is a scrapbooking event, instead of bringing photos I bring my Bible and take inspiration from the scrapbooking classes and do them IN MY BIBLE! Yep folks, you read that correctly! One thing you need to keep in mind is that the teachers are there to inspire you, to teach you, to help guide you - but NONE of them will hold it against you for putting your own TWIST on things! :)
I wanted to share my experience doing this in one of the 8 classes, Paige Taylor Evans! P.S. If you aren't already following Paige, whatcha waiting for friend, be ready to soak up some MAJOR INSPO!! Check her out here: https://www.paigetaylorevans.com/
Paiges class included beautiful instructions on some AMAZING pages, two of which I wanted to share with you today, along with my own process through them.
I love this "quilted heart" layout that Paige shared with us with easy to follow instructions. And even though that BIG GIANT heart (shown here on a 12x12 page) gave me all the heart eyes, I knew it wouldn't fit into my Bible, so I just took the directions and made a mini version as a little tip-in for my Bible!
My heart and prayers have been with my mother, who recently lost her home to the Northern California fires (she is ok!) and who is also a quilter. I love the imagery this brought together for me, and my mom pieces together her life, and what is important to her. I am so thankful for her safety and jotted down some of my thoughts, prayers for her in this entry.
The next page Paige (how fun is her name BTW?) shared with us was this super FUN and playful LOVE YOU layout. Paige had given us all letter templates to use to cut out the letters and although my initial thought was to make the letters smaller and make one page, I really loved the scale and the idea of tracing the letters (aka the easier way out!) so I decided to make 2 pages.
My LOVE page ( 1 corinthians 13 of course! ) I used the same inspo, following the example with not only the letters but embellishment clustering as close as I could etc!! Instead of adhering them to a page, I stuck them on top of the sticker packaging to create a clear tip-in that could easily flip up the read the text and journaling underneath it.
To use the rest of my sentiment I went to a chapter I have been recently using to focus on Jesus and what He has for me ( John 3 ) and instead of YOU being about someone I love in my family I used it to talk about Jesus. I made this a tip in as well, attaching at the top so that it could flip up.
That was what I got done in Paige's class, using her most recent collection with Pink Paislee (which is BEAUTIFUL by the way!) I love the challenge and the insipration of using the class kit to document what Jesus has been laying on my heart!!
Thank you so much for joining me today, and I would LOVE to Bible journal with you at the next She Loves Color event!!!!
