Hello and welcome to the Bella blog today! It's Gail here and I've been playing with the new Barnyard collection and it is seriously cute! I want to share how I managed to incorporate many of the busy patterned papers on my layout, without it being too overwhelming or overshadowing my photo!
I pulled my favorite patterns from the 6 x 8" Paper Pad and cut them into smallish (approx 2.5") circles. After slightly distressing the edges of each, I then arranged them over my background and lightly adhered them before machine stitching them in rows, so they are nice and secure and have a bit of texture!
With the background complete, I could then work on my photo and title! I placed my photo to the right of the layout and added a couple of layers of patterned paper behind as well as some foam adhesive to make it stand out somewhat from the background.
I used one of the new Acrylic Words for my title. I can't go past that gorgeous scripted font! It was then time to embellish and for this I used a mix of stickers, die cuts and puffy stickers which I placed throughout the layout. I tried to keep the embellishments quite subtle as the background is so busy!
The final touch was to add strips of typed journaling and a few flicks of mist, as per my usual style!
This could easily become my go-to design when wanting to use LOTS of patterned papers! So pull out some circle punches, dies or simply trace & cut like I did and have fun combining patterns!
