We have big stuff planned for you this week, and we are so excited to get things going! Bella Blvd is teaming up with Canvas Corp for a week full of inspiration. Canvas Corp will be sharing projects from their designers, featuring our Bella Blvd products, over on their blog this week, both today and Friday. And we have a group of our Bella designers that have been incorporating their products into their projects, which we will be sharing right here, all week long.
Easter Bunny Basket, by Christine Ousley.
Wow, what a fun project this was. The team up with Canvas Corp really gave me some fun products to work with in coordination with the Bella Blvd Fabrics from the Summer Breeze Collection. I think canvas and fun bright fabrics are always a great combo! I was sent the Canvas and Burlap bag from Canvas Corp. and knew it would make a great bunny basket. I used Bella Blvd fabric for the ears. I was also sent some sheets of canvas which I used for the back of the ears so it really gave it a wonderful coordinated look. To make the ears stand up, I inserted a piece of very thick stabilizer.
I also made these little stuffed bunnies from Riley Blake fabric. They are so easy and fast to make. You can get the pattern here from The Little Fabric Shop Blog. Basically you just cut around the pattern with your pinking shears and then sew a 1/4” seam leaving the bottom open for stuffing. I used polka dot gingham ribbon for their bow. Just a little added pop of color makes them even cuter.
For the face of the bunny, I used a couple of things. You really could get very creative with the face. I used some 3/4” black buttons for the eyes. The nose is actually some canvas from Canvas Corp that I cut into a shape of a nose and then used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist spray, also from Canvas Corp Brands, to color it pink. I used craft glue to attach it to the bag along with the black gingham ribbon for the whiskers. Please excuse the fact that the glue isn’t quite dry yet. I promise it dries clear. Then I took a thin Sharpie marker and drew in the mouth. I could have embroidered the mouth and it would have looked great but I didn’t think about it until after the ears and everything else was on and it would have been a little tough to do a good job. So if you want that look then do the face first before you attach the ears.
I was also sent some other lovely items from Canvas Corp which included this gorgeous canvas fabric flower. It’s was pre made so I just sewed on a Bella Blvd button and attached to the bunny basket. It’s such a great accent. I actually attached it with a safety pin so that I could take it off it needed. There is still plenty of time to make some Easter goodies so get your supplies together and have fun!
