Who doesn't love a good sketch? It helps to take the guesswork out of the page and/or card design, but still allows you to put your own spin on things just be turning the sketch or altering it here and there. A few times a month, we'll be bringing you a new sketch, and showing you a few takes on the sketch by our designers. Today, we have our first sketch for August, courtesy of Becky Fleck.
"Love You a Ton" card, by Shellye McDaniel.
I wanted to add some extra detail to one of my favorite characters in the Tiny Tots collection. I pulled two of the inner parts of the letter "P" from the chipboard stickers and added them to each ear.

"Happy Halloween" card, by Shellye McDaniel.
Instead of turning the sketch horizontally, I changed the vertical direction up a bit by attaching the journal card at a slight angle. I made loops from strips of the designer tape and sprinkled baby powder over the middle section to keep the sides from sticking together.
Halloween Magic: Daily Details, Hocus Pocus, Paper Pieces, Trinkets; Designer Tape: Pickle Juice Stripe; Button Market: Purple Flowers
“Stay Little Forever” card, by Diana Fisher.
True to the sketch for this card, I wanted to incorporate the notebook paper, center focus and busy background. I love the fish swimming behind the boat and the whimsy of the sail boat popped up off of the notebook paper die cut.
Tiny Tots: One Fish Two Fish, Daily Details, Chipboard Icons, Paper Pieces
“You Make Me Happy”, by Diana Fisher.
For this card, I added a notebook punch to the top of the bee flashcard and made the background a little more subtle. This allowed the tiny bee to be more prominent when not competing with a very busy background.
Tiny Tots: Busy Bee, Love to Learn, Flashcards A-L, Chipboard Icons; Designer Tape: Blue Gingham
"Give Thanks” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.
Oh how I love the warm but still fun colors in the new Hello Autumn collection! I chose two of my favorite papers to create the backdrop for all of the Paper Pieces and chipboard pieces! So that all of the embellishments would fit, I flipped the sketch to the side.
Hello Autumn: Paper Pieces, Chipboard Icons, Perfect Pick, Day Dream; Button Market: Fruit Punch
“Cutest Little Pumpkin” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.
Bella makes the cutest Halloween papers! With just the right mix of cute, fun, and the tiniest bit of spooky, the new Halloween Magic collection is my new go-to Halloween collection! To create the base of the sketch, I layered a couple of coordinating papers and then stitched them together. I chose a couple of Paper Pieces for the focal images and instead of the sentiments, I added a piece of ribbon and a Bella Button.
