Who doesn't love a good sketch? It helps to take the guesswork out of the page and/or card design, but still allows you to put your own spin on things just be turning the sketch or altering it here and there. A few times a month, we'll be bringing you a new sketch, and showing you a few takes on the sketch by our designers. Today, we have our second sketch for May, courtesy of Becky Fleck.
“Mouse House”, by Wendy Antenucci.
I had no immediate plans when I first saw this sketch so I started going through (my somewhat large) pile of pictures for something that would work in a sequence of three. My main goal was to use the gorgeous new papers that had just arrived at my house! When I saw these pictures from Mouse House (Disney World) and the sprinkle collection my mind was made up. I stuck pretty much to the sketch as it was, but I added a little tilt to my page to add some fun. I chose strips of red, yellow, and black with a hint of teal thrown in to match the colors of WDW and to give enough pop on the busy background I chose. My first element after the strips that I added was the yellow journaling sticker with the stars because it reminded me of Disney and the great quote was the perfect touch. My next step was to add in touches of the aqua in a triangle around my page and a few stars. I knew that I wanted red letters for my title (again to form a triangle), but my letters weren't bold enough to be eye catching. I grabbed some black stickers to place behind my red stickers giving a shadow to my letters and making them stand out more.

“Fish On”, by Kelly Holbrook.
I mixed the three new mini collections for this layout. I started by picking the plaid patterned paper for the border, and just decided to stick to those 3 colors since it brought out the colors of the photo. The page is about fishing on Saturdays during the summer, so I picked and chose papers/embellishments from all 3 collections to match the colors and theme.

“Sea World”, by Allyson Meinholz.
These photos were taken at Sea World a few years ago, and the colors were perfect for the new Bella Blvd Collections. I stayed pretty true to this month’s sketch, although I did stagger and rotate my photos a bit. I was pleased with how this layout turned out.
