Welcome to Trending Thursday, where we pick something we are seeing trending within the scrapbooking industry and ask our designers to focus on that trend as they create their projects to share with you. This week we are focusing on vellum!
“Snow Much Fun”, by Kelly Holbrook.
Since it's the chilly month of December, I decided to use vellum to make snowflakes. I don't have a snowflake die, so I used a flower die and then just snipped of the ends. To finish the look, I added some iridescent glitter glue around the edges. For the 'button' centers, I covered a piece of white cardstock with Chevron Designer Tape, and punched out circles. I then punched in some 'button holes', and threaded them with twine. To add dimension, I stuck them down with pop dots.

“Snow Fun”, by Jamie Harder.
Vellum is the perfect medium to make snowflakes with! I used two different sizes and spread them across the right hand side of my page as an extension of the snow my daughter was blowing! I love how I can use Christmas Countdown for more than just my Christmas projects … there are so many great winter elements to this collection!

“Magic of Christmas”, by Jennifer Chapin.
I am really loving vellum right now! I have been using it a lot in my projects with my die cutting machine as well as on top of patterned paper to tone down the colors a bit. On this page, I used a sheet of 8.5x11 vellum under my photos as well as some die cut vellum snowflakes that I scattered across the page. It's a perfect addition to a winter layout!

“Merry Christmas” card, by Shellye McDaniel.
I started with two 2.5" squares of vellum that I embossed in a Swiss Dot print. To adhere the two pieces together, I used the Red Chevron Designer Tape to tape up three of the sides. Next I added green sequins to the pocket; I didn't want all of the sequins to sink to the bottom, so I first spritzed the inside of the pocket with just a bit of spray adhesive. Press the sequins into place and then add the final strip of Designer Tape to close the pocket. For extra detail I machine-stitched around the edge before embellishing!

"Just Be Merry” card, by Shellye McDaniel.
Vellum is fun to punch and die-cut! For this snowman card I used a small ornament punch for the top, a 1" and 1.5" circle punch for the body. I added a little 'blush' to his cheeks with pink chalk before embellishing with colored pearls for the eyes and nose. His arms? They're the letter "I" from alpha stickers! You can use a vellum adhesive to hold your pieces in place; I like the detail that hand-stitching gives, so I chose that method instead of adhesive.
