Welcome to our World Card Making Day celebration! Today is all about card making, sharing, and inspiration. There's just something special about giving and receiving a handmade card, whether for a holiday, special occasion, or "just because". We hope you'll hang out with us all day long, as we share new cards every hour for twelve hours straight.
“Great Times” card, by Wendy Sue Anderson.
I love using cards as little “experimental” canvases for trying new ideas or techniques. Sometimes I’ll try something on a small scale for a card and I’ll love it so much I’ll do it again on a larger scale for a layout or project. That was the case with this technique. I love the look of the “backgammon” style triangles so I tried it out on a card first. I cut rectangles (2” x 4”) from a few different patterned papers, trimmed them into triangles and arranged them on a card base. When I was happy with the arrangement, I used my sewing machine to stitch down the pieces (and add a bit more color) before embellishing with designer tape, stickers, and word strips! It was easy and I loved the results, so I'll be trying it out on a layout next.
Supplies:
Sand & Surf: Paradise, GPS, Under the
Coconuts, Borders, Miniatures Stickers, Chipboard Icons; Designer
Tape: Green Chevron, Pony Stripe; Button Market: Masculine Mix
“Wish You Were Here” card, by Christine Ousley.
I love how I can look through my stash of Bella Blvd and pull coordinating papers from different lines. It makes it really easy to put together a card and ensures that I can use every scrap that I have! For example, I only had enough of the Hurry Up paper for the base of the card, but I really needed something green, which just happens to be on the back of Hurry Up. So I went searching and found this great dot paper in the Sand & Surf collection and the colors match perfectly. During the search I also found the cute little sun and decided that would be a perfect embellishment and what do you know, the yellows in both lines matched perfectly! This card is a great combination of both the Snapshots and Sand & Surf paper collections.
Supplies:
Sand & Surf: Paradise,
Cute Cuts, Borders; Snapshots: Borders,
Hurry Up
