Welcome to Monday Morning Challenge, where we offer up a challenge, and share with you our designers take on that challenge. Today we asked our designers to create projects using the Trick or Treat collection, feathers, and crochet hearts.
“Bewitched”, by Jodi Wilton.
I absolutely love to create Halloween layouts, and for this layout I was inspired to make my photo the focal point of the layout. The witches hat in the photo, has an awesome feather, which I knew then, that I wanted to layer feathers on my layout, so I added them at the bottom, layered with hearts and stickers for added interest. I love how all the alpha sets with Bella Blvd mix so well together, and for this layout, I wanted to the word "witch" to stand out so I used two different types of alpha's. Happy Halloween!

Altered Witch’s Hat, by Shellye McDaniel.
Anything coned shaped can be a little intimidating to decorate, especially if you are planning on doing it with paper! For this witch's hat, I started with a malleable template (I used two sheets of notebook paper taped together; a heavy tissue paper would also work). After getting the correct pattern for the top of the hat, I traced it onto a 12 X 13 sheet of paper. I wanted the brim of the hat to blend in well with the design, so I added about a half of an inch to the bottom of the cone design and then snipped the paper so that it would fold neatly around the cone-shape. A band of colorful crochet hearts was added, along with two black feathers and a cute layered embellishment. I trimmed out the edge of the hat in baker's twine and then topped with a glittered styrofoam ball.

“Beauty Rest”, by Wendy Antenucci.
Feathers make me think of sleeping. Hearts make me think of my daughter and pillows. Trick or Treat collection made me think of a sleeping beauty wrapped up in her bedspread! Yep, that's how my mind works. To show the sleeping beauty wrapped in her bed sheets, I used strips from the Trick or Treat Border paper laid randomly on the page. The “2DAY” piece from the Paper Pieces pack formed my sun, just in case my daughter decided to get up while the sun was still shining! I decided to play with the feather a little bit by cutting them down to smaller sizes and then since I had feathers scattered EVERYWHERE I thought I could also use the leftovers as part of the bed for my pictures to rest on. I also collected the feathers and put them in a vellum envelope to use at a later date as feather confetti! The letters were altered with my Faber-Castell black marker and then Black Diamond Stickles to give the perfect sparkle to this beauty page.

Beauty Mask, by Wendy Antenucci.
I decided my daughter needed a beauty mask to match the layout I created and so a decorative sleep mask was born. I layered my leftover strips on my template for the mask and stitched around the edges. Some gorgeous black feathers to add some elegance and bright crochet hearts were the next step to my mask. I then added pearls, some fussy cut owls, cloud, and butterfly to further decorate my mask. Some stickles and a cut from my cameo finished off the design which can now hang in her room as a decor piece.
