Twice a month, we'll be bringing you a new sketch, and showing you a few takes on the sketch by our designers. Today, we have our second sketch for October (even though it's technically November now), courtesy of Becky Fleck.
“A Fall Walk Along The River”, by Becki Adams.
One of my very favorite color pallets is a fall color pallet. I love the warm oranges, reds, yellows, and browns. I snapped these photos of my kiddos while we were taking a walk along the river near our home. I knew before I took the photos that I wanted to use the Thankful collection to document and compliment these photos.
Supplies:
Thankful: Burlap, Our Spot, Homey, Borders, Cute Cuts, Alpha+Bits Stickers, Just Write Journaling Stickers, Chipboard Icons; Ciao Chip Elements: Trees; High Five Alphabet Stickers: Yellow, Green; Simply Simona Chipboard Alphas: Pickle Juice; Button Market: Merlot Flowers; Designer Tape: Pickle Juice Chevron
“Mochi Pounding”, by Yohko Takiguchi.
I used the Thankful collection for this winter layout because yellow, blue and brown papers of this collection are perfect to match with my pictures. The Mochi-pounding ceremony is one of the winter fun events in Japan (Mochi is a kind of rice cake). I decided to use one landscape photo instead of the large portrait photo and to move the title below the large photo.
Supplies:
Thankful: Perfect Day, Turkey Tracks, Homey, Burlap, Our Spot, Borders, Alpha+Bits Stickers, Just Write Journaling Stickers; Sophisticates: Sprinkles & Lace Ice, Petite Pieces, Short Stories; Finally Fall: Miniatures Stickers; Simply Simona Chipboard Alphas: Oyster; Button Market: Orange Stars; Crochet Flowers: Juniper
"Birthday", by Jenny Evans.
I just love how the Birthday Boy collection matches my photos of Jacob's 2nd Birthday! Since these photos are of him opening his presents, I decided to accent the layout with punched presents from the 'All For You' paper. I worked my embellishments onto the layout based on which direction Jacob was facing in the photos. Besides that, and rotating it, I kept really close to the original sketch.
Supplies:
Birthday Boy: About A Boy, All For You, Toadilly Cool, Eat Cake, Cute Cuts; High Five Alpha Stickers: Yellow; Designer Tape: Pony Dot, Teal Stripe; Button Market: Orange Star; Flags: Birthday Boy Flags 2
“Play”, by Jaclyn Rench.
I have had these photos printed and sitting in my scrap room for nearly two years. I have great memories associated with them as my son made great improvements during this tball season, but for one reason or another they had never made it onto a page. As was the case here, a sketch is sometimes just what I need (along with loads of cute Bella supplies too, of course!), to kick start my creativity! This sketch provided me with a starting point for placement of my pictures and title. I made only one simple adjustment to the original design. I simply placed my journaling in the spot that was designated for the focal point photo, as I had lots of thoughts I wanted to record and knew that my text could fill up that space just perfectly.
Supplies:
Making The Team: Soccer, Cute Cuts, Borders, Miniatures Stickers; High Five Alphabet Stickers: Green; Designer Tapes: Jail Bird; Button Market: Orange Stars
“Showered With Monkey Love”, by Allyson Meinholz.
For this layout, I stuck pretty close to the sketch. The only thing I really changed was the direction of the photos. So, I rotated the top layer (photos & embellishments) but I left the background papers the same as the original sketch. I didn't really plan it that way, just kind of happened. I love these photos. They were taken the day of my "mommy to be" luncheon, given by Stephanie. Totally "Monkey Style" from head to toe! A very special day with all my very special peeps I will cherish forever!
Supplies:
Kiss Me: Mustache Love, True Love, Borders & Cute Cuts, Alpha+Bits Stickers; Sophisticates: Spinkles & Lace Punch; High Five Alpha Stickers: Brown-Cream, Blue; Sienna Chipboard Alphas: Blueberry; Button Market: Red Flower, Pink Flowers
