Today we want to put the spotlight on two of our popular embellishments ... our Wood Buttons and our Stick Pin Flags. These fun embellishments might be small in size, but they add a HUGE touch to our projects. And with such a wide assortment to chose from, you can always find just the perfect buttons or flags to add to any project.
"Thankful For Cousins”, by Diane Payne.
To create the background I used a starburst mask and misted over white paper with a creamy brown mist. I filled the white spaces with patterned paper from the Thankful collection and framed the photo with leaves cut with my Silhouette, buttons and flags.
Supplies:
Thankful: Perfect Day, Turkey Tracks, Homey, Burlap, Bountiful, Our Spot, Cute Cuts, Alpha+Bits Stickers, Chipboard Icons; Quattrofina Alpha Stickers: Brownie & Cream; Ciao Chip Everyday Elements: Borders; Button Market: Wood Mix, Neutrals, Masculine Mix, Bursts, Tie Dye, Outdoor Buttons; Flags: Thankful Flags 2, Fall
“It's Home”, by Jennifer Chapin.
My mom took this photo on the riverfront in our hometown one evening. Growing up, I always felt a little ambivalent about living here, but now that I'm grown I'm glad we get to call this town home. I knew I wanted to use a sunburst design on my layout to mirror the sun in the photo, and the Thankful collection was perfect for a layout about home. I used five of the wood buttons on this layout - I love popping them up with foam dots and sticking a flag in for an added accent.
Supplies:
Thankful: Turkey Tracks, Homey, Bountiful, Our Spot, Borders, Cute Cuts, Alpha+Bits Stickers, Chipboard Icons, Just Write Journaling Stickers; Birthday Girl: Alpha+Bits Stickers; Winter Wonder: Miniatures Stickers; Sienna Chipboard Alpha: Blueberry; Ciao Chip Elements: Borders; Designer Tape: Pony Dot; Button Market: Checkers Wood Buttons, Orange Stars; Flags: Thankful 1, Thankful 2
"Chocolate Train", by Yohko Takiguchi.
The Kiss Me collection is the perfect match for Valentine’s day. My son’s tried out this fun chocolate train kit on Valentine’s Day this year. My nine year old son did the construction part. I decided to make a train by layering some papers and use wood buttons as railway wheels in this layout.
Supplies:
Kiss Me: Bouquet Kisses, Mustache Love, Love Notes, Flutter, True Love, Borders & Cute Cuts, Alpha+Bits Stickers, Just Write Journaling Stickers ; Sophisticates: Sprinkles & Lace Ice; Finally Fall: Alpha+Bits Stickers; High Five Alpha Stickers: Pink-Red, Blue; Flags: Birthday Girl 1; Button Market: Checkers
“3 Of Grampy’s Girls”, by Becki Adams.
Who doesn’t love stick pin flags and buttons? They both seem to find their way onto all of my projects lately and this project was no exception! I had so much fun creating a “girly” page with a photo of two of my nieces and my little lady. We were taking back to school photos and they all happened to be dressed in pink. This is one of my very favorite photos. Even though these flags didn’t match my project exactly I found stickers to embellish them to fit my theme.
Supplies:
Kiss Me: Love Notes, True Love, Borders & Cute Cuts, Alpha+Bits Stickers; Sienna Chipboard Alphas: Punch; High Five Alphabet Stickers: Piggy-Punch, Gulf; Button Market: Tie Dye; Sophisticates: Sprinkles & Lace Oyster; Ciao Chip Elements: Stars & Hearts; Crochet Flowers: Dahlia; Flags: Girl
“The Model of Sweetness”, by Jaclyn Rench.
This is one of my very favorite photos of my baby girl. I have been waiting to scrapbook it until just the right set of papers came along. Wouldn't you know that Bella's brand new Kiss Me collection was the perfect color palette to compliment my treasured photo! When it came time to embellish this page, I turned to my stash of Bella flags and wooden buttons. While none of those products were specifically made to coordinate with this collection, as you can see, they still work together seamlessly. I included flags with a wedding, home and birthday theme, but altered them a bit by adding stickers or strategically cutting them to fit with my page and picture. I love the bit of neutral that the wood buttons provide for this, as well. They allow for a resting place for the eye, among all of the patterns and colors throughout the page.
Supplies:
Kiss Me: Bouquet Kiss, Flutter, True Love, Alpha+Bits Stickers; Baby Boy: Baby Blue, Borders; Baby Girl: Snuggly Safari; All Inclusive: Ocean View; High Five Alpha Stickers: Piggy-Punch; Ciao Chip Elements: Borders; Designer Tapes: Piggy Pink Stripe; Button Market: Tie Dye, Wood Mix; Flags: Just Married, Home Sweet Home, Birthday Girl 1
