Inspiration is all around us, and can be interpreted in so many different ways. We have chosen one image, and asked a handful of our designers to create a layout based on the inspiration piece. It's always fun to see what part of a piece a designers finds inspiring, and how they translate that into their designs.
“Me”, by Kim Arnold.
I love the colors in the inspiration image and decided to use a selection of the Designer Tapes in those colors to create a background for my layout. Because the background is quite busy, I have kept the balance of the layout reasonably simple, using plenty of pink with splashes of the teal color. The sequins randomly dotted across the layout remind me of the polka dots in the image. Most of the Designer Tapes that I used for the background are from the latest release and I just love the bright happy colors – they all work together so well.
Supplies:
Family Dynamic: Borders n’ Blocks; Sunshine & Happiness: Just Write Journaling Stickers; Sienna Chipboard Alpha: Punch; Baby Blooms a Bella: Azzini; Designer Tape: Pickle Juice Dot, Gulf Dot, Punch Chevron, Pickle Juice Chevron, Pony Dot, Piggy Pink Stripe, Blue Gingham; Button Market: Tie Die
“Going Home”, by Brook Stewart.
The first thing that popped out at me in the inspiration image was of course the polka dots. I created my polka dot background on my Silhouette Cameo then picked out some papers from various collections that brought out a similar color scheme as the inspiration photo. The pictures are from the day we brought our little girl home from the hospital ... she's already grown SO much since then!
Supplies:
Birthday Girl: Celebrate; Birthday Boy: Just a Note, Alpha+Bits Stickers; Lovey Dovey: Borders N' Blocks; Baby Girl: Pretty In Pink, Alpha+Bits Stickers; Ciao Chip Elements: Stars & Hearts; Simply Simona Chipboard Alphas: Peep; High Five Alpha Stickers: Blue
"Love This Photo", by Katherine McElvain.
Instagram photos are so fun! And this one of my kids on vacation in Michigan happens to be one of my recent favorites, and I was anxious to scrap it. When I first looked at the inspiration image for this month, I saw blocks of pastel color and white dots. That is what I wanted to incorporate into my layout while keeping the photo as the focus. I added clean color blocked strips on the left side of the layout so that the black frame on the photo would stand out and draw the viewer in. With the Bella Blvd chipboard and tape the layout has a variety of texture, and a bit of dimension, even though there is not much product. For a little extra, I added the "dots" to match the inspiration with a row of spattered brads.
Supplies:
Birthday Girl: Chipboard Icons; Thankful: Borders; Ciao Chip Elements: Borders; High Five Alpha Stickers: Black-White; Designer Tape: Pickle Juice Chevron

I love this inspiration photo (can never get enough of polka-dots and bright colors) and the layouts everyone created are so cool! Love the strips/tapes on both Katherine and Kim's layouts and the fun idea of creating a custom polka-dot background on Brook's layout. :)
